Closing Prayer
January 24, 2003

by Jay Sivits

The Following Christ 2002 conference has come and gone, but there's still much to pray about, and we especially want to draw attention to the following items of thanksgiving as our "closing prayer." You may want to print this article out (using the "printer-friendly" link at the left) for handy reference.

Thanks for joining us all — and a large team of intercessors around the world — in praying for Following Christ 2002!

Praise God, from whom all blessings flow;
Praise him, all creatures here below;
Praise him above, ye heavenly host;
Praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost.

Thank God for safe travel and everyone being able to navigate the MARTA subway system in Atlanta to the hotel. Registration went smoothly from start to finish.

After praying that the morning speaker team of Marva Dawn, Vinoth Ramachandra, Dean Trulear, and Miroslav Volf would become a community, by the end of the week they, along with Mark Labberton and Dallas Willard had indeed drawn together and built on one another's content.

"God was with us in this place." Speaking, praying, worshiping — all focused on God being alive and at work.

All of the optional sessions were well attended and had great interaction where required. The After Hours performers were outstanding, not only in their giftedness, but also in sharing themselves.

Starting a conference with Sabbath? Yes, and it went well. Delegates even thanked us for the time, guide, rest, and refreshment of body and soul.

Praise God for Story Night! What an evening of God's working. The four people telling their stories could not have been more different, but it gave space for God to work, and to call out a next generation for his work in the world. The prayer-ministry time that evening continued for over an hour.

The fifteen tracks went well. God gave us great track co-chairs along with other presenters who not only shared content but shared their lives as well.

Thank God with us for all you who prayed for the conference. God has more than answered our prayers.

If you would like to review the pre-conference prayer articles, here is the most recent, to start the chain.
